Evertonians
So walking round goodison on Wednesday for the last time. (let's not mention the terrible football on display). We were talking about while the wooden stars ai t great it's a shame to see it go. We realised, heard loads about the new ground but what is happening to goodison after you move?

It’s being turned into a park and community hub with some social housing, I think. Good that the emphasis is on maintaining a focus of a community legacy to help the local area given the area will lose a lot from the move.

We already have a free school, community hub (blue base) and mental health centre in the area which will remain and be expanded

I noticed a cafe?always see lots of Everton buildings for different things they seem to do a lot of good in the community
Hopefully they do keep something from goodison though. Not looking forward to finding a new parking spot though use the same spot for Everton and Liverpool. |

parking is going to be interesting. If the council plan gets the go ahead they want to put restriction in within a 30 minute walking distance. This could be as far as the city centre, upto the A59 and north to Bank Hall station. Which potentially means all those who currently park near sandhills and use the bus to everton or liverpool may no longer be able to also.
When you then add in the restricted zone for anfield that's potentially a massive parking exclusion zone. Lets see what they do. But I think its clear they want to push people to public transport. https://liverpoolexpress.co.uk/counc...s-new-stadium/ |

Would have thought it was part of the planning application to have x parking spaces
When NUFC expanded to 52k part of the approval was the provision for subsidised public transport on match days as there wasnt really any way of creating/adding parking in the city centre. That pub team down the road also had to provide extensive park & ride on match days when they moved to the Stadium of Light Saw a video inside the new stadium looks great that home end looks massive & steep !. The other end looks smaller which I assume can be extended ?/ |

We will be getting public transport (currently park for goodison).
We are South Liverpool so have options of going into town first for some food/drink and then out on Merseyrail to Sandhills or jump on MerseyRail here and straight through. Then a 10-15 min stroll from Sandhills. Will just stay for 1 or 2 before heading back to the station!

There are public transport plans, park & ride etc but I don’t know the details. I’m talking about official club parking spaces - I’ve had one for around 30 years at Goodison but won’t be offered one at BMD. They are still investigating parking possibilities and trying to buy pieces of land.
Apparently there is capacity ro expand in future but I’m not sure it would ever happen. At build the architect estimated that an extra 10,000 seats would cost around £100M. Higher stands would need deeper foundations which would be a huge task in that dock. We have our first test events planned so will be interesting to see how it’s going to work Edited at 04:41 PM. |

the best way to get to and from the stadium if you can is on a bike. There is a dedicated cycle lane along the dock road.
They have currently been building an extended queuing area at sandhills as the platforms can not cope with the expected numbers. Long term the intent is to turn the land between the stadium and the city into a park. But I think in the first few events traffic will be a nightmare in the area, I'd be putting in a one way system down regent road. But anyone thinking of driving and parking nearby there is not that much open space available in the area. Maybe they will keep the area the builder have been using as an overflow carpark in the short term. |
