What happens to my points if i cancel a booking?

Hi

if i was to book SSR now for July next year using 2020 use points where would these points go if i cancelled?

Do they go back into use year.

In other words what do i need to do to not lose them if i had to cancel

Assuming the rules revert back to normal, they go back into the current use year if you cancel 31 or more days from check in. 30 days or less and they go in holding. What month is your use year? - this will affect if the points are still bankable.

As long as you cancel a month before your booking they will go back into your use year with no restriction and you could bank them if you wanted. 4 months before end of use year is banking deadline. So to bank any 2020 points you’d have to bank by 31 July 2021.

You are booking the reservation using the points from your 12/1/20 allocation. If you cancel 31 days or more prior to check in they will go back to the 12/1/20 allocation and need to be used by 12/1/21. You can bank them until 7/31/2021 and if you banked them they would need to be used between 12/1/21 and 12/1/22.
