Travel nightmare

After my post yesterday where our transfer flight from Edin to LGW was cancelled leading to a change to Edin - Heathrow - Philly - MCO our nightmare continues! We got to Philly at the start of a horrific storm and first of all they couldnt open the hold door to release our bags. They then were unable due to the lightning to unload the plane until it cleared.

2 hours later the bags appeared on the carousel. We then discovered we had missed our connection to MCO and the later Orlando flight had been cancelled. All flights at Philly were grounded.

When we got to the desk there were no direct flights to MCO the next day. Our only options were to get there via Houston or fly to Tampa. We opted for the Tampa option and were put up in a hotel overnight.

Our hire car however is booked from MCO and i cant get through to BA to see if we can have it amended to start in Tampa.

Without doubt the most stressful trip of all time!

get onto Avis straightaway, they might be able to sort you out before you can get hold of BA

I agree with the previous post - Don't go back to BA, go straight to Avis.

Tampa is a much smaller airport, if you have a niche car then there may be some supply issues. If you registered with Preferred then you have a direct chat option.

I had a potential issue when we were in Croatia last year and the online response was swift

Good luck

Regards

Gary

AVIS via Facebook messager are quick to normally reply in EDT working hours.. send them a message and advise what has occurred, however, give customer services a call to sort it.

They should be able to just switch it at no charge for you as this is a daily occurrence with airport rental companies.

What a nightmare for you, can't offer any advice sorry. But sending Pixie Dust so that you can put all this behind you and relax and enjoy the rest of your holiday once all this is sorted.

Wowzers, is there not an airline direct from Edinburgh to MCO, or was this purely a money saving thing? Just curious is all!

There are very few direct flights to Orlando from Scotland and as this is our school holidays they tend to be extremely
expensive.
