We really enjoy Disneyland Paris, it's not Florida but it's still a great holiday & it's Disney- can't go wrong with Disney

I must admit we were all slightly disappointed with DLP this time.

We loved the hotel (how could we not staying in the Disneyland Hotel), but the park just doesn't have that same buzz about it as the Florida parks do.

We really enjoyed ourselves don't get me wrong... think what I am trying to say is that I don't feel you can fairly compare the two.

Interestingly, last week we found it did have a buzz! The Swing into Spring shows, the Welsh Festival, getting lots of character interaction (Woody getting a queue of people to sing happy birthday!) and watching the St David's fireworks on a private balcony with champagne - all superb. And so many lovely interactions with CMs too.

We've been to Florida many times over the last 23 years starting from when I was 5. It is our favourite holiday destination. However we love paris as well. Now that I have young children, it's perfect to take them to. Of course I really want to take them to Florida to do all the theme parks but that can wait till they are older.

I love DLP! It really is my happy place!
We plan on going back to Florida in the future and my OH doesn't want to go to the MK as he thinks there is no point when you have the better version in Paris. (We personally felt a little let down with the MK but I think we were spoiled by the, in our opinion, superior versions of some of the rides that are in Paris).
Don't get me wrong another 2 week trip to Florida is still top of our list as we absolutely loved it, but for Disney specifically we just love Paris. We find that magic in Paris, plenty of others don't, but we don't go comparing and expecting the same experience as a 2 week trip to Florida, because it isn't that and it is unfair to compare. If you remember that then you will have an amazing time!

the best part is how quiet it is out of season. we've been a few times in october mid week and had everything around a 5/10 wait. I don't think you get that in Florida :P

Is it true that people smoke everywhere in the park and queue jump? This puts me off x

There is incidents of smoking in the park yes...but it's not rife...In fact it's very sparse, but cos it's unusual you notice it more...it's no worse then places in Britain

The main issues with "queue jumping" tend to be when there are random meets in the park...but that's a culture thing
Us Brits stand patiently and wait our turn whilst the Spanish and other Europeans just push to the front..
I tend to just avoid these situations as I don't want to end up with disappointed kids.

I've been 13 times and haven't really had major issues ...

We did lots of character meets this time. All were properly roped off and CMs were organising the queue.

The character train now just goes up and down Main Street - the 'scrums' afterwards are a thing of the past.

Go midweek and avoid French and Spanish holidays if possible. Smoking does happen (and CMs don't have legal authority to stop it) but last week I heard announcements being made over the PA system publicising the smoking areas, which is a step forward. In all honesty I see more smoking at British theme parks and on my daily commute.

Oh, and nothing beats EMH every day! Love watching Main Street wake up when the park is quiet. (Less quiet now the characters are around Town Square from 8am, but still the only time Peter Pan and Buzz are walk-ons!)
