I also like the fact that some bits are so much BETTER at DLrP - BTMRR and the castle, the dragon, Phantom manor, Indy - and we haven't been back yet since all the big changes at Studios - there is just so much that is "different"

(though the burgers at the front lot in the studios were to be avoided)

I think as others have said, if you go with the mindset that it is not going to be like WDW you will be fine. A lot of people who don't like DLP I think go expecting it to have the same atmosphere etc and it doesn't but that doesn't mean it's not good.

It's like going to Seaworld or another theme park, you don't go expecting it to be like a Disney park and you'll enjoy it (just not the same maybe).

I think your sons will enjoy it and it's a nice quick break that you can do in a few days. I don't know when you're planning for but check for closures of rides, there seems to be a lot closed in the near future. We're disappointed Crush's Coaster will be closed (again ) for our trip in October. I knew about BTM and Star Tours but some new ones got added as the hours came out including CC and IASW

I honestly do value them equally. If I won the lottery tomorrow I would absolutely still be going to DLP (more often ha ha!) as well as WDW.

Absolutely agree! And there are several attractions that are not in WDW e.g. Ratatouille, the stunt show (now), Mickey and the Magician, Cinemaguiqe, etc

I practically love this thread. It has been traditional on these boards for folk to line up and trash DLP...and some having never set foot in it

DLP is a very different product to WDW, and has to be treated as such.

Also, have a read of these two threads, they're a few years old now but still hold true:

I didn't like DLP last time but that was more to do with the fact that I spent a total of 3 hours in the parks after getting the flu and spending the rest of it in bed!

I do actually really like DLP, this is going to sound a bit schmaltzy but I feel like it is a little more fairytale-ish than Florida

WDW is the exception to the rule. The other parks are based more on Disneyland. They all have their own atmosphere and style.
I love DLP. Go taking it for what it is and you will have a great time.

Thank you again everyone - I think we have been about 4 or 5 time for breaks and enjoyed every trip. As has been stated before it is a different product to WDW. There are definitely pros and cons to each one.

Many thanks again everyone.
