Boarding/Leaving the Dream?

Hi We are due to cruise on the Dream in September but we have never cruised before so have no idea what to expect ... Can anyone give me some idea what to expect when we get to port? What time should we get there? We are staying at Coronado Springs in the first 2 weeks then keeping our car parked at port so we can keep it after the cruise because we still ahve 2 days in Florida before our flight home. What should we expect when we get to port? Also what to expect on the morning that we are leaving the ship? What time do they expect us to be off and are we allowed to get breakfast before we leave ... as u can see we really dont have a clue so any help would be much appreciated xxxxx

We haven't done the Dream, but when we did the Wonder we got there around noon (had intended to be earlier but time drifted away from us). We checked the cases roadside, then DH parked the car whilst we went inside. We waited in the lounge for DH, then checked in, took some photos and wandered around for a short while until we were called to board. When you board, they take your photo and announce you onto the boat.

Then you are directed to a restaurant, either a more formal inside restaurant (it was Parrot Cay), or we opted to go on deck and eat in the casual buffet and sit outside.

After lunch, we had a wander around and then about 2ish (I think) our rooms were ready, so we went and found the cabin.

When you disembark, you have to leave you cases outside the room the night before (remember to keep some clothes to wear!), then in the morning you go for breakfast quite early and then disembark. We were off the boat really early, I think we were back at the Boardwalk before 9.

If you haven't bought a complete package, or not yet booked your car hire, I would recommend you look at doing 2 x one way rentals to and from the port ... rather than paying to park - it normally works out cheaper.

We like to get to the port for opening... around 10.15am and enjoy the cruise terminal and seeing the ship before we board.

This way you will be on the ship for the scrummy buffet lunch, and can enjoy the pools before the crowds arrive (pack your cossies in your hand luggage though as you can't access your cabin until at least 1.30pm. )

Parking a rental car at the port is $20 a day so book any rental so you drop it off at the Port -all the main rental companies have outlets on Astronaut Way. If you need a car when you get back book as a separate pick up from the port. (You'll need to use shuttle buses). You will be sent special luggage labels which you put on your cases. You leave the bags at a collection point and later the afternoon of departure they will turn up at your Stateroom. At the end of the cruise you have special labels to put on your bags and you leave outside your room on the last night. These can be collected at the terminal once you disembark. And, yes, you get breakfast on the last morning. You leave the ship from 8a.m. onwards depending on your deck. The Cruise terminal is about an hour's drive from MCO and an hour and half from WDW.
