Virgin Sale - Buy Cash seats or stick to Air Miles? Easter 2021

Hello
I have asked before re April 2021
Will we be able to go or not?

As suggested we swapped our 10 day BLT booking into 3 short bookings to make it easier if we cant fly abroad to rent out

At present we have air miles seats that can be cancelled for £130 anytime and the £2300 taxes given back

But there is a virgin black friday sale and cash seats are £3100
I am wondering whether to save the 230 000 AIr miles and pay £900 extra

or do I save the money and keep the flexibility of a Airmiles seat in the event I need to cancel?

Miles seats are also on 50% off - can you cancel and rebook at lower mileage rates and get the best of both worlds?

Something that may help your decision:

"Sir John Bell, a member of the government's vaccine taskforce, has said the latest news on vaccinations made him "more confident" life could return to normal by April 2021."

However, if I was booking something new i'd go for the safest option. I'm only booked for April because they are moved flights from October, and not booked with miles.

We already have our flights booked however its really frustrating seeing the reduction in miles now. There is no economy seats out on the day we want but we can change the return date by a day and pick some up coming back. Is it possible to cancel and change one of the flights to take advantage of the lower miles? Or could anyone else think of another way to do it?
I would be scared to cancel both flights in case they didn't go back into the reward flight availabiity and I couldn't get the outbound flights again

An unexpected 90,000 miles refund, that's amazing news.

Hope your post helps others who are in a similar position, so might be worth reposting on the Trip Planning Florida forum.

With Virgin its always worth ringing back and speaking to someone else as the first person I spoke to wouldn't do anything and had a very different idea of what the rules were - not saying who was right or wrong here

Dear all an update - sorry work in NHS and manic so delayed
Thanks for great Tip
what I did was - cancelled my Manchester to MCO booking - cost 120 to cancel and was 360 000 flying club miles
Rebooked same day but flights from LHR - same flights and got them for 159 000 miles and got 200000 miles back and paid same in taxes
Quite happy that have a massive chunk of miles back and flexibility as well

Glad SKStorm got miles back as well

Dad always said you don't ask you don't get, so it was definitely worth a try :-)
