It’s not actually down to the individual GP this is the NHS guidelines all GPs are expected to follow. The NHS is on its knees and plenty of no essential medications have been pulled. I don’t mean to sound harsh but if people can afford an expensive holiday then surely a little prescription charge can be factored in the cost. I am incredibly passionate about our NHS and back these positive change to help ensure its survival for our children and grandchildren.

Rant over

The poster said the GP said it's not available on an NHS prescription. A female GP could not have given it either.

Interested to see this posted today as I ordered dd a pair of Modibodi period pants yesterday to try (not the swim ones). She is 16 but doesn’t like tampons but has used them for swimming at school. Pads tend to leak so if she can use the pants and they’re reliable I’ll get her some more.

Re. Menstrual cup - I want to try one but am a bit confused as to which one so any suggestions for an older lady at 46

So are you thinking of putting the underwear ones underneath her normal swimwear?

I’ve bought just the Panty Prop black bikini bottom for my dd, and a cheap black bikini top, she is trying with tampons, but just doesn’t like them and I don’t like the idea of giving her medication at this age to stop a period. She found a you tube site where a teen had tried them out and they had recommended that you wear the extra pad, but as soon as you’d finished swimming you went and changed it, but they recommended it, so it put dd’s mind at rest. Don’t worry about wings showing they have a little pocket that the pad goes in.

Can’t recommend Diary Doll pants enough, I got my dd a second pair on ebay for £5. They are great under swimming bottoms with a pad, just change the pad when you need to. Xx

She was 15 when we went last year, she went in the sea and lay on a lilo in the pool, she also had light shorts on over her bottoms. She got pushed in by her horrible brothers so yes she did! After a few days she just used a panty liner and carried on swimming x

I have a menstrual cup and decided which one to buy by doing the questionaire on the putacupinit website. They have lots of good information on there.
