Is it ok to only invite one twin?
I'm not sure on the etiquette so I thought I'd ask for advice here 😉
DS is in Year 3 and his birthday is coming up. He sits on a class table with a girl who has a twin sister on the other Year 3 class. He wants to invite the girl in his class to a small party he's having. Is it ok to invite just one of the twins? It would bump up the cost quite a lot to invite the sister and he doesn't really socialise with her during school time. Your opinions please 🙂 Thanks. |

I’d think as they are in separate classes then the parents don’t expect them to do everything together so yes.

You invite who you want. From what u say I would have thought the reason to invite one twin and not the other was pretty obvious.

You do get some parents who do feel it’s both or none and only inviting one twin would cause ructions though . I think the separate classes thing is a game changer though.

I think that it really does depend on the girls (I always hated being known as "twin"). If they have separate friend groups then it makes perfect sense. However you may get a refusal from the parents (but I guess it would be the same if you had very close siblings as well). I honestly cannot remember whether we had different friend groups or not so I don't know whether this issue arose for us.
This may be a good time to have a quiet chat with the parents and sound it out... |

As it sounds like you aren't even inviting his whole class I can't see a real issue.

As well as twins they are individual’s, i’m surprised to read some parents would be funny about it.

I have twins in different classes and they go to parties separately more often than together and it’s not a problem at all.

I don’t think you need to invite the girls twin.
Saying that every party I have done at least two children and brought a sibling and the parent then says it hope you don’t mind!’ Then I have had to pay extra 😱 |
