Staying at Santa Fe - any tips?

We’ve booked a last minute trip with our DD and her husband for early March. Not stayed here before but unsure if you can walk to the gates or do we need a shuttle? DD will be six months pregnant and is really excited about going. Hoping that she doesn’t get too exhausted and also finds something reasonable to eat. Anybody stayed here before? What is the food like at breakfast?

The breakfast is a buffet and has plenty of choice cereal and hot food.
The evening buffet is also a nice mix of food.

Walk to the park is a about 20 mins.

I would get the shuttle bus - the stop is at the front of the hotel and a 5 min drive.

The rooms are nicely themed for cars.

It has a star bucks and a store for Disney items.

The only problem was the long check in lines - hopefully you will not arrive at the popular time of 4.00.

The walk is around 15mins along the river and through Disney Village. Or the shuttle bus runs every 12 mins or so from the front of the hotel.

The security lines via the walking option are usually much shorter than the bus. That is because the bus station brings you out at the same security lines as the day guests meaning there are lots more people.

There is a petrol station just next to Santa Fe that sells snacks, drinks, wine etc at cheaper prices than the hotel shop so bear that in mind if you want to save some money.

Rooms don't have a kettle but you can request one free of charge from reception. There are also hot drink vending machines dotted around the hotel that you can get free hot drinks from by scanning your hotel room card at the machine.

Breakfast will have bacon, scrambled eggs, beans and potatoes, along with cheese, cereal, bread, pastries, etc. It does get busy so try and go early or late to avoid the crowds.

We stayed at the santa fe in 2018 and staying again this aug/sep. As others have said the walk by the river was around 15 mins and that was with slow children! I would also like to add that the walk is lovely and really peaceful the kids loved seeing the ducks etc on the way. As your daughter is pregnant if she can only manage to walk one way and you are staying for the fireworks definatly walk back in the evening as one night we thought we would try the bus and it was manic! Ques to check in were long but moved quickly. Rooms are pretty basic but well themed and tbh you will probably find you are hardly there!
Breakfast was reallygood much better then we expected but it does get super busy/noisy etc but having said that we never had a problem getting a table as the dining room is huge. Also if you have a room preference i. E. Close to river etc email them in advancr as they will try to meet requests if they can.

Enjoy

Thanks think we will walk rather than catch the bus especially if the lines to get in are shorter.

No, each park only has one entrance. If you're walking from the hotel you'll go through the bag check at the top end of Disney Village, just next to Hotel New York. As you reach the bottom end of the village you'll have the big World of Disney store on your right and Walt Disney Studios is almost straight ahead. If you follow the path round to the right you'll see the big Disneyland Hotel ahead of you and the park entrance is underneath it.

If you're planning on doing EMH I recommend you get to the gates by 8am as they often open the park then. That'll give you time to have a nice wander down main street before heading to Fantasyland ready for the rides opening at 8.30.

Just a note on the pregnancy side, be careful ordering anything advertised as two or three cheese (I’m thinking pasta in particular) as I found it contained blue cheese, that had just been crumbled on top (ie not cooked) and therefore not safe for pregnant women!
