Mobile Last grocery shop, how busy?

We are getting our fresh food in Lidl’s on Sunday morning and expecting it to be really busy. I quite enjoy the last food shop for Xmas though, as I feel it’s part of the excitement (plus I only get a small amount as I already have most things by then).

I wondered how everyone is finding the shops this weekend and which day/shop/time is the best to go? Do others enjoy the panic and chaos or hate it?

I will let everyone know how I get on Sunday and if I remembered everything or if the shop has everything I need. One year I couldn’t get sprouts, nearly spoiled my Christmas 😂

I went to my local Tesco at 9 this morning and it was bedlam and to be honest it was the sheer number of packers with trolleys piling stuff in for online orders to be delivered. I swear every isle had at least 2 staff picking shopping 🙈
I only went for normal stuff and some wrapping paper I have everything in except the veg which I will get on Monday on my way home from the night shift

I sent DH to Aldi this morning and it was chaos apparently. The tills weren’t too bad but it was the other shoppers getting on his nerves. So I’m out tomorrow to finish off in Tesco.

I walked to my local Sainsbury’s at lunch time and the car park was packed; they even had car park attendants helping shoppers find a space.

Every till was open and there were queues 2 or 3 deep. I only had a basket (went for milk, bread and eggs) so walked right to the front of the self checkouts I needed to keep my wits about me in the aisles though or I could have suffered a nasty trolly injury!

I’ve got an ASDA delivery coming 9am Sunday and a Morrison’s party food order to collect on Monday. Fingers crossed there aren’t too many substitutions.

We went to Aldi late afternoon and it was fine. Busy but fine.

I remember a few years ago we went to Tesco's about midnight to avoid the crowds.

How wrong we were.

My only advice... think when it's likely to be quiet and then do the opposite.

Looks as if all stores were busy today then. I think the online delivery packers do take up a lot of the aisles in big stores especially on a Friday.

I think tocpe321 is right, think when it may be busy and go then as most people are avoiding ‘busy’ times too. Early mornings always seem very busy I find.

I do love the panic and watching people rushing around though, it feels Christmassy. I worked on Tesco checkouts for 12 years and even enjoyed the busyness from that side of the checkout, although that is a really tiring job at that time of year and not every customer was feeling the Christmas spirit 😀

We've just got back from Tesco and it was lovely and quiet. Well stocked too, so we got everything we wanted. Can relax now

I think I may have lost my mind but we’re getting up early tomorrow for a trip to Ikea I’ve decided that now would be a good time to get some organising done! I have a small room with a sloping ceiling that I’m going to turn into a dressing room, so going to get a few bits.

Haven’t planned our food shop yet but there is only 2 of us and my mum so not too worried, pretty much like a large Sunday dinner

Usually get an Ocado delivery but missed the best slots

Went to Aldi at 6pm - nearly empty! Couldn’t beleive my luck after last years debacle at Tesco when I couldn’t even park in the massive car park.

I would have liked to have waited until Sunday or Monday for the longer shelf life, but I took the lesser of two evils, shopped smart and put stuff in the freezer.

Merry Christmas everyone x
