Mobile Recommend me a holiday destination

So we now have a week off in June with no holiday plans (long story!).

We are struggling with places to go for just a week. We don’t want to fly more than 4 hours really which cuts out a lot of places. We are not the beach holiday type people (at all!) and think a week is too long for a city break.

I had thought of Dubai but thought the flight was shorter than the 7 hours it is

Any ideas clever Dibbers? 2 adults, reasonable budget. Don’t mind booking really last minute.

The only thing we have really considered is Iceland as we both really want to go but now that is stretching the budget for a week stay in June!

I'm just back from 5 nights in Nice. Great location to be based with excellent train links to Monaco, Cannes etc.

The Balearics is less than a two hour flight , we stayed in a lovely hotel in Ibiza away from the hustle and bustle , Menorca is lovely too , depends what you want from a holiday, we just like to relax around the hotel but there is always places to wander off to if you like to keep busy

Barcelona?

Croatia and the istra penisula is lovely (Pula / Porec). Can take day trip over to Venice, up into Slovenia (Lake Bled, Lipica stud farm with the Lippizaner stallions), mountain villages like Motovun. Sure it’s on the Adriatic but it doesn’t have to be a beach holiday

A week wouldn't be too long for a city break for me (depending on where). Certainly NYC would be great, we did 6 nights there years ago and could easily have done two weeks!

Or somewhere like Rome, a week would be fine there and you could do a day trip to other places.

Thanks all. Some really good suggestions for us to look into

Gill - I would love to do NYC / Las Vegas and agree those two would be fine for a week (I meant most European cities I see as 3/4 days not 7). But the flights are just too long for a week as neither of us fly well. We would have to do both as part of a multi city USA holiday really
