Mobile St Pete’s beach - 10 days?

So after looking for a cheap European holiday as a family of 4 in August - it works out the same price to travel to tampa?
I do want to keep the price of this holiday down... is there enough to do?
We have never done Florida without the parks before

10 days in Clearwater / St Pete's would be a lot, however in that area you have Rays baseball, pre season NFL games and College Football. Busch Gardens is near if you need some theme park action. Go on Little Toot and watch the Dolphins.

Get a Hire car, Fort DeSoto is a great day out, Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key are 30 mins away at most.

The West Coast of Florida has more than you can wish for, all within a 2 hr drive. Great towns, beaches, shopping, Mote Marina, Sarasota, Naples, Venice, Ringling Circus, Armand Circle, etc etc.

10 days on the West Coast will barely scratch the surface.

As mentioned the beach resorts are a lot more expensive than Orlando (2-3 times per night) so for a cheap holiday it might be worth driving to Orlando. With the money you save you could also visit a park .

I get plenty of bookings from people who do not want to go anywhere near a theme park, Northern Dave is correct so much to see on the Gulf Coast.

Don't get me wrong. I love the gulf coast and spend more than half of my time there. But, the OP was after a cheap holiday mentioning Tampa flights. The gulf coast is not cheap in comparison with Orlando. Great if you can afford it and so much more relaxing than Orlando.
