Never seem a woodpecker, my dh saw a squirrel up a tree eating a tub of Nutella, I have a pic somewhere must find it to share with you lot. I know you will all be impressed, we walked on a butterfly trail and went to the wrong bit and saw two butterflies on Monday! The dog had fun!

I was in Costa this morning and the barista told me I have £24 on my reward card! That was a nice surprise, I was expecting it to be around £5 tops.

Didn't know there was one! Since moving to a village I'm out of the Costa loop, hence had no idea I had so much on my card. Will check it out, thank you
btw, most people are better than me, it's nothing to be proud of

We've only seen a woodpecker once. We have bird boxes in our garden and one is on an electric pole. They had been up for several years and the holes had gotten slightly larger than when first made. They were initially for blue tits but sparrows had moved into the one on the pole. Anyway... one day last summer I looked out of my window and there was a woodpecker sitting at the front of the bird box on the pole, I excitedly shouted to DH to come look. My look turned to horror to then witness the woodpecker hammer away at the entrance to the box and snatch a baby sparrow, it flew off with it to the bottom of our garden, hammered the bird a few times of the fence and flew away It then came back 10 mins later or so and took the second one It was awful to watch.
DH made new boxes this year so the woodpecker hopefully won't be able to get at the nests. |
