Sainsburys and ASDA merger blocked
Thank goodness I say. Now time to get rid of the CEO. You’re not “in the money 🎼” now are you Mike Coupe?
As an ex employee I have seen the heart being ripped out of Sainsburys in the last couple of years. They have spent millions on ill conceived ideas and staff are leaving in droves. Such a shame. I’m not sure where they can go from here but I think something drastic may happen. |

We loved Sainsbury's and our local one is where we have shopped since it opened maybe 20+ years ago.
Now it's grubby, broken tiles everywhere, tills never open, rarely can get 2pts of semi skimmed milk, eggs the same. Why? Are the cows and chickens on strike? Never ever see a Manager on the floor. Probably too frightened to show their face when they see me enter. Only one thing keep us going there and thats for the fruit & veg. Asda for us now for routine stuff. Mostly though we shop at M & S. Sad really as we like the Staff there but yes they are bailing out.

Happy about this as I love ASDA and don’t want to see it change!
Also ex Sainsbury’s staff and it has changed massively since I left five years ago I’m glad I left when I did. |

I seldom shop in Sainsbury's now - I only go in for the Irish papers at the weekend. The store seems quite run down and there are few staff. I shop either at Aldi or Waitrose depending on what I want - I fear that Sainsbury's has lost the middle ground customer.

They recently opened a new Sainsbury's near us and it's brilliant. It's also right next door to an Asda so presumably one of those would have closed. Our high street is dead enough without a major supermarket shutting there!

I've been a Sainsbury's shopper for years but I see a noticeable difference in the standards of alot of their "own brand" products. It's so annoying when they change what were excellent products into tasteless, bland rubbish made with cheap ingredients. They used to have great products which were consistently good quality, but nowadays those products are few and far between and their offers are dismal
