How easy is driving?

Definitely drive, it's fabulous! We have driven 3 times now, twice from north of Inverness, once from Glasgow, wouldn't do it any other way!
Even factoring in 2 overnights each way it's cheaper than flying, and you can fill the car with as many souvenirs as you can buy!
We found that the Ramada in Dover was nice and good value, as was the Kyriad at DLP, which is what we will do this time.
We also plan things to do along the way, ie Harry Potter studios.
The roads in France, as others have said are much better than UK and well signposted, but sat nav makes life easier.

Driving is fine! If I can do it, anyone can. One thing I would say though is that if you're not a hugely confident driver, it may be easier to try and organise the French bit of the drive in the daylight.
