There are green bus stops . You can get a map of the route but I do not think all of the stops are shown.

Yes just flag down the trolley like a normal bus. They go every 20 mins or so, with lots of bus stops along the route. Just Google for Anna Maria Trolley for more info

Trolley stops either have a bench or shelter by them, usually about 400yds or so apart. Really good for getting around.

In future new parking regulations will deter some day trippers and stop the ever growing queues at the drawbridges.
Definitely can understand the licensing and decreasing the congestion of the island. It is surprising though that they would be discouraging tourism since that brings loads of money to the island. People will be best then to use the free trolley. I can see where this discourages day people from stopping by for a while.

I can understand the discouragement of tourism, especially in what was, at one time an unspoilt upland, some of us like our places the way they were and we don't care about the money brought into the island.

A prime example is Sanibel, 35 years ago it was absolutely beautiful and pristine, now you're lucky if you get to see the ocean. There are so many tourists it can take an hour to run down to get a newspaper, you can't go out to eat without reservations or standing in line for hours. Yes Sanibel is beautiful but the tourists have ruined it.

That being said, I wouldn't be rude to tourists, although I must admit I've muttered under my breath a few times. The ones that really get my goat, here in St. Augustine, are the ones who will hold up a whole line of traffic because they're doing sightseeing by car, you know the ones that are traveling 20 miles below the speed limit and keep stopping to take photos. Luckily here we have ordinances already in place that have stopped all the high rises etc. I'm sure we can all live together in harmony, we'll be nice and if you'll please remember that not everyone is on holiday we"ll all get along fine.
