I agree, it's hard but people need to hold their nerves. I have two transatlantic bookings, Tampa in early September for a week (invited to a friends villa so no other costs), and Montreal at the end September ( everything cancelled except flight)

I always book flight plus car or one night in hotel so never pay full fare up front so have two deposits to lose. I have written them off and if I get them back I will be pleased but we wont be going.

Just wait an see, BA wont cancel early, they dont want their staff swamped with calls and they will wait to see what the FCO and US say about opening borders.

They have been very fair up till now so wait calmly.

Has there been any discussion on whether the US will open up borders to the places handling covid better? we're due to go Vegas towards mid september. We seen tweets about starting to fly on the 20th July but i dont think thats going to happen.

There have been flights throughout to the States. Business travellers and those travelling for non tourist personal reasons using them. Flights may start to more destinations, but this does not necessarily mean FCO (which means no insurance) will change advice, border restrictions changed for UK citizens or quarantine measures will be lifted. And that’s without talking about Trumps nationalistic policies and the fact your that there is an election coming up, the fact infections are still rising and the curve out is a lot shallower than the curve in, and the fact the airports like Heathrow are still operating on skeleton crew.

Really sorry for anybody getting their hopes up. But pending some kind of astronomically large turn around, it’s not happening. If they get international tourism opened up again before end of the year I’ll be amazed.

Yeah thats fair enough, i want to go, but at the same time i dont think im overly bothered if i have to cancel. a trip before the end of the year would have been nice given ive worked throughout covid covering multiple peoples jobs. im getting tired and need to blow off some steam

Amen to that. One holiday and one weekend away cancelled so far for me. Also worked throughout. Pretty torturous.
