Inlet harbour restaurant, were taken by some friends, recommended. Wish we could have got a taxi home and had a few more beers rather than driving back to Orlando after visiting after day on beach!

Are you a couple, family or?
Aside from the obvious beach and speedway there is Free concerts at the Bandshell on the beach every Friday and Saturday. I know there is a Lynnard Skinnard tribute one Saturday in July. Baseball at the Jackie Robinson Stadium. Ice skating at the large rink off Breville Road. Greyhound racing at the Speedway. A scenic driving route called the Loop which goes up the coast and then inland through the Tomoka state park. Then obviously the Tomoka state park. All of the chain restaurants found in Orlando but less crowded and with more pleasant staff (often students from the college and Universities.) Charlie Horse restaurant which is the best place in Florida if you like a crab legs dinner. If I knew the sort of things you like doing I could add more but think of Daytona as a university town with a 20+mile beach and you can do almost anything. I am in the area almost every year but spend most of my time playing golf, walking the beach and eating and drinking. |

Thanks for that we're a family of 3, me, hubby & 16 yr old daughter.
Love crab legs so restaurant recommendation looks good. Like to chill but also see something of our surroundings & we have a hire car. Thought would spend 1 day at lighthouse & on manatee cruise... |

Drive up to St. Augustine one day, it's only about 35 miles and totally different from anything else you'll see in Florida,

Between Daytona and St Augustine is Flagler Beach which is a small quaint town with no high rise buildings. Nowhere else quite like it on either the Atlantic or Gulf Coasts.

There are 3 Holiday inns in Dayton Beach but none of them is within walking distance of much so you will have to rely on your car. The lighthouse is about 12 miles from Ocean Walk at Daytona Beach.
Another area you might want to see is Beach Street in Daytona which is not on the beach but on the Halifax river. There is a number of small restaurants and boutique style shops. At weekends there is often a farmers market. |
