Good luck to him, and as already mentioned the positive outcome to prostate cancer is very high. You have however, prompted me to have another PSA test.

Hope all goes well for your DH. Keeping busy is a great idea. I am sure you will both feel a lot better once he is the other side of the op. Look after yourself. X

"Key message here if you or the man in your life is over 40 consider having a psa or d.r.e done, it really can save lives."

I wish your husband the very best for his surgery and a speedy recovery.

I'm pleased to hear your work are supporting you also - loved ones of those battling cancer are facing a battle too.

So pleased that they have picked up on this. Prostate cancer can often have no symptoms which is why it's so important to get tests done regularly. As already said, caught early it has extremely high recovery rates.

Sadly, my grandfather passed away from prostate cancer. It had spread to his bones and was only diagnosed after he had a fall and broke his hip as his bones were weakened to such an extent. He avoided doctors like the plague and never got tested. It makes me so sad to think that had he had a simple blood test, he could still be here with me today.

Sending you lots of love and well wishes.
Will be thinking of you both on Monday x

Hi guys

Sorry I have been "dark" for a while. Had a lot on as you can imagine.

As it happened DH's op was postponed until Sat (28th), and the last few days have been a roller coaster of emotions.

At the moment he seems to be coping quite well. Surgery site is sore, but he reports the worse thing is the shoulder ache from the gasses they use during the keyhole.

Catheter comes out next week, so fingers crossed for that. He is realistic, but young so hopefully he should regain control quite quickly. Tena men at the ready though!

We wont know histology results until 12th November, but from what he said surgeon seems quite upbeat about it all and no lymph nodes were taken so we take that as a positive.

Atm it is baby steps one mile stone at a time, but he is pottering around in garden right now so must be feeling quite chipper.

V x

Things sound really positive. Make sure he doesn't overdo things so early after the operation. Men tend to think they are invincible.
Best wishes.
