Why such a price increase?

I have just compared my 2019 and 2020 per night costs to the 2021 assuming same dates, same number of nights and neutralising any offers.

2019 £363 - 2021 £361 (February)

Wilderness Lodge Club level
2019 £520 - 2021 n/a (September)

Caribbean Beach
2019 £168 - 2021 £256 (September)

OKW 1 bed
2020 £385 - 2021 n/a (April)

Pop Century
2020 £163 - 2021 £200 (May)

Art of Animation
2020 £129 - 2021 £157 (December)

Coronado Springs Tower
2020 £201 - 2021 £252 (December)

Beach Club Club level
2020 £500 - 2021 £750 (December)

Some fairly big increases where I can compare.

You’re right - just checked my old records and it was more like £360 for a standard room for October 2020.

Seems like a bargain now looking at some of prices in your post above 😂

There were a few standard rooms available in October but not many based on the random searches I tried.

Have you thought about renting DVC points? That’s what we’re doing this year and it’s working out much cheaper.

Do you think the 50th anniversary will hike the prices up? We were looking to go last week of September for 2 weeks but the prices do seem a lot higher than previous years that I’ve priced up.
Does anyone know when the free dining is likely to be announced?

That 2021 price is for a club level savannah view room.

Have a look at my earlier post. I selected 13 nights (I meant to select 14 nights but messed up) at AKL and the total came to £4901. For 14 nights this would equal £5278 - exactly the price you've got.

I checked and saw that this was for a club level savannah view room. There were no other room types available.

I wish it was... But the 2021 price is £5,278 for a standard room with a check in date of 14 Sept.
