Gluten free in Tokyo is it possible?
We are thinking (and hoping) to visit Tokyo in 2023, however DS who will be 15 when we travel has coeliac disease and is extremely sensitive to gluten, even a crumb can make him really unwell.
Has anyone with coeliac successfully visited Tokyo? We were watching some you tube vlogs last night and it just seemed really challenging, with the language barrier and the heavy gluten influences of the food there (wheat noodles/soy sauce based dishes etc) We have kind of discounted now and DS is really disappointed so if it is possible would love to hear some tips/experiences or suggestions? |

No experience personally but if you check out TDR Explorer’s website he has a link to cards you can print out which say “I am allergic to ...” various things.

Thank you for all the replies! I’ve joined the Facebook group and read through the articles in the links.
It does seem possible but very challenging! There’s a lot to think about, DS is a very fussy eater too which doesn’t help! |
