For a family of 4, this could be extremely expensive!

Do you have to pay for Genie+ in order to pay for the Lightening Lane Pass?

We’re going at Christmas, I think the only ride we may look at paying for is Rise of the Resistance, as we’ve not done that before.

If it's an Individual Lightning Lane Selection (e.g. Rise) then no, you don't need to pay for Genie+ as well.

Thanks, that’s good to know. I think I need to do some research before we go!

Total cost per person $40.48 x 4 = $161.92 / 1.35 = £119.94 for something that used to be free
Just to clarify, the cost per person is $40.48, which is around £30.

The £119.94 cost is for a family of 4.

That assumes that you buy everything - Genie+ and two ILLS. You don't have to buy all of these. Many of us probably won't buy all of these.

Also, buying these lets you fasttrack all 9 rides (plus some shows). To fasttrack 6 rides at Alton Towers costs £50.

The alternative in school holidays is to stand in very long queues in 90 degree heat. Not ideal when spending £10k on a holiday

This August the queues were really short. Although it was still hot.

Anyway, if someone is willing to spend £10K on a holiday then spending an additional few £s to reduce their time spent queuing won’t make that much of an impact.
