It's absolutely no different than paying extra to stay in a deluxe at Universal to get express pass. I definitely won't feel embarrassed or worried about using the LL's.

As a DAS holder I’ve never felt any resentment or embarrassment by those in standby or using it. Why would people sneer…. No different to paid for events etc. Money always talked… do people staying at deluxe sneer at pop at the bus stops….
It’ll be like everything else WDW/Orlando If your on a budget you’ll save where you can If your pockets are deep.. you’ll pay for more If your pockets are bottomless you'll pay for whatever you can I don’t like the new system but I’m willing to wait whilst others go before. I don’t think WDW is for me anymore but I’m open to be persuaded |

We have never paid for an upgraded ticket at Universal. We buy base tickets for all parks during our trips. When we first visited WDW in the 1980's we bought tickets at the gate and could pay extra to upgrade to a book of ride vouchers. These evolved into fast pass and now into Genie+. Magic bands have become more interactive along with mobile ticketing etc. We didn't have a mobile phone in the 80's but having used one for a while see the advantages of using this technology. As previous posts have said it's a business and we as UK visitors are sold two for the price of 7 ultimate tickets, these are not available to US visitors. We have seen changes in other paid for tickets, Sea world VIP day tickets in 2009 have us an amazing day out front of line, lunch in a pavilion by the killer whales and all the shows with additional interactions. In 2015 we did not have the same we had to get out own lunch and were given a voucher for the rides after our guided tour ended (our guide stated we could ride any time but she preferred to show us the dolphins and other interactions) all businesses evolve and we are going to see how things develop over the next few months. One thing is for sure Disney have invested a great deal in this new system and hopefully the internet links in the parks will be robust enough to cope. I'm sure they will offer enhancements as they see how the system is being used and iron out glitches as they appear. It's certainly not going to spoil our enjoyment of Disney.

Personally, I hate all the eroded perks and extra costs and these will probably put me off going back to Disney.
But I’m not surprised at these tactics from Disney and can’t really disagree with them from a business standpoint. At the end of the day they run a business for profit and have a fiduciary duty to their shareholders to maximise profit. The pandemic taught Disney that there is pretty much an unlimited Demand for the service they Supply. These cost rises were inevitable and will probably continue. I’d imagine the Genie + price will rise along with the parking costs every couple of years. |

P.S. To add, no I wouldn't 'boycott' Disney. I'd just assess whether the financial cost and the overall value I'd get in return (from the whole visit) work for me -- and either go or not go at any given time.
For me, there's much more to the picture than Genie+ and ILLS, but I probably wouldn't consider going, until I see how this all works out - even if I were convinced to return on every other basis. I've loved my trips to WDW and DL, but ALL the changes over recent years make me much more cautious about returning and more likely to continue to explore other places. ...I just wouldn't 100% rule it out.

Disney won't want guests standing in a queue line for hours as this means they aren't spending any money.

Those who won’t now pay for Disney despite the perks cut and increased prices, Disney doesn’t want you as you don’t give enough ‘yield’ (margin). Bob Chapek has now referred to guest yield in two different contexts, in 2 different earnings calls (well one was a Goldman Sachs day). The ‘yield’ per customer seems to be what he is really focussed on. So they won’t really care if those who will not pay don’t go. This is actually what they say they want- to reduce numbers, reduce costs, and have those who are prepared to go giving them the same or higher margin than before.
Of course, if they have gone too far and it all goes horribly wrong, it will end badly for the senior management. I have a feeling though that unless a recession comes along, there are higher prices and more cost cuts to come yet. They already hinted that the Genie cost is basically introductory pricing. If a high proportion buy it, I can see the cost of that very quickly hitting $20 a day, $25 a day.

I certainly wouldn't boycott it, that's cutting off my nose etc etc. I would however reduce the amount I spent on merchandise in their overpriced shops. And restaurants.

Don’t know about boycott, but I’m edging towards cancelling next year. It’s hit me that we’re spending £13k excluding spends and there is not the usual thrill of excitement as all of the price rises, cost cutting exercises is putting a dampener on it.
