Disney Gift cards in MDE?

I have googled and been given two answers! I want to be able to pay for food using a Disney gift card when using mobile order rather than carrying my food budget around with me in cash. Can i put a gift card into the payment section on MDE to do this or not? Thanks!

You've not been able to do this in the past with gift cards. What we normally do is charge everything yo our room and then use the gift cards towards paying off the room bill

When you use mobile order, can you pay at the till with your gift card? This is going to be a problem otherwise as i don't want to use a credit card and want to make sure i stay in budget.

Sorry, I don't know as we always charge to our room.

When we’ve done mobile order in the past the money was taken from the card on the account. There wasn’t even an option to charge to room. Not sure if it’s still the same but you couldn’t pay cash.

You can use the gift card in mobile ordering but it's a bit of a pain as you can't store it, so you have to enter the info every time.

What I'm planning to do instead of a gift card is use a prepaid travel card (e.g. Revolut, Starling, etc) with my food budget loaded onto that, so MDE sees it as a regular card but I'm still only spending a fixed amount.

Edited at 07:02 PM.

Ah, that's interesting to know. I've only used mobile ordering with a dining plan, so never really paid. This is good to know for next year though. I hope the new dining credit will be an option for Mobile ordering.

They've confirmed the dining credit will work with mobile ordering. Once that's gone though, it's payment taken at time of purchase.
