Potential Covid Travel Issue

I’m currently self isolating after a positive covid test and I’ve just come off the phone to test and trace. He told me that any PCR test taken within the next 90 days could come back as a false positive due to lingering covid cells. Which got me thinking, if any of our family test positive after the end of September it could impact our travel PCR test result in December for our Christmas trip, even if we were in fact negative. I mean, you only do it 72 hours before flying, which wouldn’t leave much time for any appeal! It’s really making me think about cancelling the trip 😢

I'm sure I've read somewhere that you can get a Covid Recovery Certificate which allows to you travel post Covid diagnosis. Not sure of the details but I'm sure there must be info on gov.uk

Yeah I saw that too. We have an issue that my husbands first jab was not uploaded to the system! Trying to get it sorted is a nightmare!

So does this certificate bypass a false positive triggered by a previous positive result? Im trawling the government website and I’m finding it frustrating and can’t find anything. All it says that if you’ve recently tested positive then to take LFT, but the USA won’t accept a lateral flow test! Surely this is a situation that could happen to any of us planning a USA trip!

Once recovered from Covid, you do get a ‘Covid recovery’ certificate via the NHS app (it’s listed alongside your vaccine details).

What you can do with it/who accepts it is anyone’s guess though.

Let's hope you won't even need to guff around with these tests come December. Total pain in the backside.

I think the USA does accept recovery certificates from other countries, wether they will for uk when they open who knows!.We are in the same situation, having all tested positive in last 10 days.I also think the USA accepts lateral flow tests as entry tests from other countries, but again who knows for uk.
