I don’t believe they salt check the water.
When you top up the dishwasher it’s easy to spill it too, then the tablets may contain salt, and the reservoir releases salt.
If your water is hard you may need a lot of salt, but here just the salt in the tablets does it. I added salt after a thread on here and i had to wash my glasses 3 times to wash it off

Love SMOL they are great and no fear of doing damage to the septic tank.

Nope, no salt here, I use Fairy platinum, we have average water, not hard not soft. Never had any issues.

But to be fair never even thought of adding anything to an all-in-one tablet, as I thought it meant what it says on the bag.

I too never add salt or rinse aid as I use all in one tablets that say its not needed, that's why they are all in one. It's the basic tablets or the granules ( not sure you get that anymore) that require salt and rinse aid. My water is quite hard but my glassware comes out sparkling.

Tesco tablets and salt - I buy Finish rinse aid when on offer. Dishes come out perfectly clean on the short wash programme and I don’t rinse them off before hand.
Found glassware got scratched with the dearer branded tablets - have had no problems with scratches since switching to the own brand tablets.
