Go onto the watch app on your phone, click on the face gallery at the bottom, scroll through them until you find what you are looking for, click on that, then press add... it’ll appear on your watch.
I’ve got toy story... that’s fun, it changes everytime you move your wrist.

WhatsApp works on my watch series 4. I get notifications, but can't view photos sent via WhatsApp for some reason.
Also if you hold on the watch face long enough you can edit your watch face from there. I have my Memoji as my watch face.

I used to have the first series and WhatsApp notifications even worked on that. As above, you should just need to mirror your settings and then it will happen (but not when your phone is unlocked). My series 1 gave up after almost four years just before for Christmas so I’ve just treated myself to a series 6.
