Sunflower lanyard at Tampa

I know the sunflower lanyard is only applicable in the uk but was wondering do Tampa airport acknowledged it? Im thinking for when we disimbark the aircraft will they let us through immigration with this or are we best booking special assistance?
Also same question for Tampa security?

Personally if you really need the help then I would book SA, just to be on the safe side. I had it booked when we flew into Tampa last October but I felt fine when we landed so didn’t take it, the immigration queue was only about 30 mins but those with special assistance and wheelchairs were let through a different line. Maybe call your airline and see what assistance they can offer.

I emailed Tampa airport directly in August 2018 and explained my DD needs. They replied to say that someone would meet us from the plane.

Once we exited the plane and walked towards the immigration hall a lady was present with our names on a board. She directed us straight to the disabled immigration line (I think it was, we was straight through), she stayed with us whilst we got our luggage, passport control and only left us once she had guided us to the car hire section. Amazing service. On return we went to the customer desk, they were again expecting us and did the same in reverse, they left us when we was at the gate.

Might be worth emailing and asking, they will be able to advise you on what services they can offer and hopefully one of them will suit you and your needs.

We will be flying into and out of Tampa so this is good to know, we had our lanyard when we landed in MCO and had emailed them. They advised they had ambassadors dressed in Gold vests contact them and they brought us straight through emigration. We normally fly from Ireland and are pre cleared but flew from Man last year

Please forgive a stupid question, but what is the difference between booking SA with the airline, and booking it with the airport? I have arranged SA with BA, they said something about being taken through the airport on one of the little buggy vehicle things if needed. I'm confused about what assistance comes from the airline and what I would need to arrange with the airport?

I have never booked SA with an airline so unfortunately cant help with that part.

My DD does not need help with mobility but for her it is anxiousness, she has learning difficulties and does not have much awareness of space around her. She also gets extremely nervous and we experienced a meltdown at Gatwick airport once due to her wanting to remove her hoody which was not necessary. I like to make the airport aware of these issues so they have a record incase she does have a meltdown or we struggle with her whilst going through immigration. It appears the airport's offer more support with those type of disabilities then the airlines who appear to be more mobility issues (although I am no expert and like I said we do not need it for mobility so have never enquired).

I do mark on our booking with BA DD's special needs though so they are also aware if they need to be.
