Potential big flight savings

I live in Spain so needed flights from here. I was incredibly surprised to see there are regular flights from MAD to MIA for under 200 euros return. 500 premier economy.

I'm sure folk will find cheap flights from UK to Madrid so this could save people a big load of money.

These are bookable via BA, Iberia, AA, and many others.

I booked via iberia and got connecting flights from Malaga, and to Malaga for an extra fiver each way

Sorry if this is well known, or not a great deal, just trying to help

Yeah, flights from Europe are a lot cheaper than originating from London. The issue with booking these is we’d have to fly over the day before to make sure we didn’t miss that first flight. Same on the way back too.
Obviously a couple of nights hotel stay still gives a significant saving overall, particularly for families. But for a lot of people that would eat into time spent at the destination due to annual leave.

Personally I hate indirect unless I’m doing proper stopovers for a few days.

That’s a great tip.👍🏻

The past three holidays I’ve booked (but not gone on due to Covid), I’ve played around with airports to get the cheapest flights I can. Next year, we’re supposed to be having a three night stop over in New York before flying on to Orlando and then departing from Tampa. Even with the hotel stay in New York, it’s significantly cheaper than flying direct.

For anyone who wants to try this the ITA app has a function where you put in your first and last city (so say LON and MCO) and then select airports with a certain distance like 1000 miles or 500 for each leg. It then comes back with the best fares so if say DUB or MAD was cheaper you’d then know to go search for those routes on a screen scraper site like Kayak or Google flights .
It’s a fun travel tool to play with.

I've looked at BA flights from Madrid for my dates and they're coming up more than from London 🤷

I've just checked with this idea and flights from Madrid connecting through LHR to MCO are around £2000 cheaper than what you would pay when you book directly. But what's stopping you just going to London and getting on your connecting flight...

I'm pretty sure that if you don't get on the first flight from Madrid then your connecting flight from London would automatically be cancelled. Might be wrong though!
