Ah, poutine - the food of the gods It is seriously one of my favourite parts of the holiday! I wish we could buy fresh cheese curds easily over here (there is only one place that does mail order).
Squishy, give it a try - it is nothing like it sounds. You think of the cheese melting and mixing with gravy, which would be gross, but it's not like that at all. It stays in solid chunks and doesn't taste cheesy. It almost does the job of chunks of chicken? The gravy is really tasty so that on top of the chips by itself would be good enough but the cheese adds a little 'bite' to it. The curds squeak in your mouth (if they're fresh enough)... oh goodness, it is just my favourite food inthe world. The Daily Poutine and Le Cellier ones (both the classic/traditional ones - don't mess about with 'special' versions) are incredible. Refreshment Port isn't as good but I still love it.
