Mother/Daughter Massage - Tip Included?
Hi,
Thinking of booking this for the wife and niece. IT's around $99, but do they add the automatic tip on of 18% (sure I saw that on the pricing somewhere). I was planning on paying it beforehand and then heading off with our little one to the pool area as they do their stuff for the 25-30 mins or whatever. I don't want them carrying money around. FD

Don't know what cruise line you are on but certainly on RCI the tip is included automatically. There is never any need for cash at all at any point on a ship.

With DCL, the 18% auto gratuity is added to every spa service. That tip is shared amongst all of the spa staff (they do not work directly for DCL).
At the end of the treatment, your wife will be given a receipt which she will need to sign and this is where she can add an extra gratuity that goes directly to the therapist if she wants. If she doesn't, she can just cross it through and put the total as it appears. The spa staff rely on sales really for most of their pay, so if your wife does not want a sales pitch, she should just tell them that she is not interested in buying any products as she has many at home already. If she doesn't mind knowing about the product, she could ask the staff to save the info until the end of the treatment. An another easy way to stop the pitch is to say you can't do anything without your partners agreement so you'll go away and speak to them. They mean no harm and it's their pay that's affected, but it can sometimes be off putting to listen to when you're trying to relax!

Thanks very much again.
She'll absolutely hate a sales pitch during it, so ill need to warn her, although she probably wont like to say. Im guessing there's going to be 2 of them also. Maybe stick $10 each then, that's practically 40% of the actual treatment . Not sure if they add tax also. FD

There shouldn't be tax as far as I'm aware (apart from she buys products), but don't quote me on that.
The staff get taxed on their tips though just like wait staff in US.
