Magic Shuttle Transfer with young kids
Hi there, we are staying at Sequoia lodge and have booked the full package inc flights etc directly with Disneylandparis.com. We decided to include transfers as well as thought it would make it all a bit simpler, but was that the right thing to do?
We will be 2 adults travelling with a 7 year old and a 1 (nearly 2) year old. does anyone have experience of travelling with young kids on the magic shuttle? does it feel safe enough on the coach not having a child seat or anything? Do you get a voucher and just join a queue to get on the next shuttle or do you book a specific time slot nearer the time? Also do you pass the Eiffel tower at all on the journey? just wondering as my oldest would like to see it, but not sure he would want to give up Disney time to pop into Paris to see it! Any other tips on the magic Shuttle greatly appreciated. Thanks guys |

So we took the shuttle last year with our then about 22-month old twins and had two very different experiences, but it was more to do with the kids than the service.
On the way from the airport, the coach was no more than a ¼ full. We walked straight to it from the terminal and t left about two minutes later. Kept the kids occupied and within about 30-40 mins got to Newport Bay as the first stop. Way back was a nightmare. We were last to be collected and the coach was packed but managed to sit across from each other. There was no traffic and no stops but the journey took forever and we seemed to be going round in circles – must have taken nearly 90 minutes on the way back. The kids were a nightmare and wouldn’t sit still and kept kicking off. Your standard coach seat belts were useless in keeping them down! Didn’t help that I’d left my iPad in the hotel room so they couldn’t watch anything either. We’re going back next month (crazy decision!) and looked at the TGV train but think we’ll go for a private shuttle with RS this time as we can have a couple of car seats with it and they’re usually fine in the car. Long story short, it depends how your kids are, but as you've already booked it, probably easier to stick with it. On your other points: - Don't think we booked on a specific coach time but think we had to specify when booking (which we did separately) what time we were due in and stuff - Didn't see anything scenic of Paris, just your typical dual carriageways through industrial and more greener areas. |

It is nowhere near Paris.
Not done the coach for years (it is just a coach). It was late and crowded. We tend to just use RS Transports. Cheaper than coach or train, door to door in 40 min.

We did it a couple of years ago with a 18 month old, the coach journey itself was fine, it was quick both ways and we didn't have to wait long, we would do it again. We stayed at Newport Bay and were the first off and I think from memory were last to be collected.
The one thing we did notice was the CDG airport was HUGE and from getting off the flight it felt like we walked FOREVER before we got our luggage and subsequently picked up our pram. I wish we had taken our trunki so we could have pulled him along as after a while he was exhausted and we had to carry him so if you have one my advise would be to take one! You don't go anywhere near the Eiffel Tower i'm afraid. |

RS transport is (one of a number) of private transfer taxi companies. You prebook a transfer and they stand with your name at the exit hall. Returning they come to your hotel. Transfer is quicker than shuttle and most of the time cheaper (you might be an exception with a 1yo).
there are other transfet companies and the regulars on here have their favourites. As usual, look on trip advisor for reviews - rs and premier are both highly regarded and reviewed. |

If you have already paid for the Magic Shuttle in your pacakge I wouldn't personally suggest you shed out more money and book a private transfer - perhaps bear that option in mind for future trips, but stick with the bus this time.
It might not be a lot of peoples preferred option but it gets you there, its easy enough and is used by lots of guests with kids every day so you will be fine. Enjoy your trip! |
