ROTR - better chance with smaller group?
Are boarding passes like FPs where there are only slots for a certain number of people, or is it a certain number of groups and they don't mind how many people are in that group?
You know how if you're trying for a FP for a popular ride you'll have better luck finding a FP for 1 person than you would for 6 people - are boarding passes the same? The reason I ask is that my parents may or may not ride - would I stand a better chance of getting a boarding group if I don't include them, as there will be fewer of us then? Or will it make no difference? |

No, they're not the same. Unlike FPs, I don't think there's any benefit in splitting your party.
In the case of FPs, splitting your group only works when FPs are hard to get and availability is limited. There may not be (say) 6 fastpasses available for one time slot but there may be 2 lots of 3 fastpasses available at 2 different timeslots (eg. 3 FPs at 2-3pm and 3 FPs at 2:30-3:30pm). Large groups of FPs for the same timeslot are more difficult to come by than smaller groups at different timeslots. Whereas with the boarding passes, you're just adding your group onto the end of a virtual queue. You're not booking a specific timeslot. So it doesn't matter if there are 2 of you or 8 of you. You'll be assigned the next available boarding group. If anything, splitting your group may be a bad idea because one group might manage to get a boarding pass whereas the other has trouble logging in or getting a wifi signal and fails to get a boarding pass. Or, if they do get a boarding pass, the second group may be called back hours after the first group.
