Im with Geoffa on this. They dont do much anyhow so make them earn their money especially if you are in a marginal seat!

They can actually make doors open and clarity appear faster than the 'official channel' sometimes

My brother and his now wife went on holiday to Spain a few years ago and the Spanish police arrived at the hotel in the early hours of their first night to arrest him.

The language was a bit of an issue ! But basically he was linked to crimes of someone with the same name who had left the country before he could be charged.

It was a stressful time for them but as he is a partner in a global law firm they had better immediate options than most people would have. They also never leave his passport details with hotels now always my sister in laws !

It got sorted and it was mistaken identity as is clearly the case here. You will prove that but it's frustrating ... I think contact with your MP laying it on about the impact on job, stress etc is a good suggestion from Geoffa.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Jo

Our MP is very good and earns his keep! My sister in law had problems with her attendance allowance, she's the carer for MIL, saving society a lot of money! There was a problem with her account and her benefit was reduced, and our MP sorted it out within two weeks. Our letters had failed for about 18 months.

OP I would contact your MP and get everything in writing when it is clarified.

I had this happen a couple of years ago, applied for a new DBS check for Girl Guiding and mine came back with some one with similar details to myself with criminal convictions. I had to go to our local police station and provide my finger prints to prove I wasn't her. Could your husband do this as surely they must have 'his' finger prints on record?

Hope your husband gets this sorted soon.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

He did this yesterday. To say they were not very helpful is an understatement! The police officer on the front desk just said sorry nothing we can do you'll just have to apply for the SAR and wait the 40 days

Yep we have been in 2000,2001,2009,2013 and 2014 and got an ESTA no problem for each trip. We told this to the home office yesterday as well. I'm sure if he had this many convictions and offences he would never have got into the USA.

While you're waiting to get this mess sorted, why not google your husbands name and see if any criminals come up? I'm sure with that many convictions there would have been some kind of reporting in local papers etc? Might give you a heads up as to where the problem lies.

Good luck and hope you get this sorted asap.
