I have a a distance from a house that I have to park for me to do that job any further and I inform the customer sorry I need somewhere closer to park if they want ne to do the job.
We would be mutually happy then and I would get someone else to do the work .

Our kerbs are so low it's possible to not notice if you have one wheel on it.

In what way will the tyre become damaged?

When parking on a pavement, most of us use a part of the pavement that is level with the road in order to get onto the pavement in the first place. We don't smash the wheel against a raised kerb. Parking partially on the pavement outside my old house was no different to parking on my driveway or on the road.

Ah so we are talking about parking on the pavement only where the kerbs are dropped ( presumably dropped to help disabled access or entrance to driveways.)Until your post I didn’t see any mention of specific kerbs yto mount pavements. I’m happy to be corrected. I assume that you use the same method to dismount the pavement.

Anyhow I’ll step out of this and carry on scraping past cars on pavements with my walking sticks. I’ll try my best to keep the stick handles and the zips on my jacket off the cars paintwork. 😉

Yes, I would get onto the pavement via a dropped kerb and then move slightly along the pavement a bit to ensure I wasn't blocking the disabled access or driveway (if required - note that I often did this at home in front of my own driveway so I had no issues with blocking my own driveway). Then, when driving off, I would move along until reaching a dropping kerb again. I wouldn't try mounting a raised kerb because that would damage my tyres. Same as most other people don't tend to mount raised kerbs if they can help it.

As mentioned, I wouldn't park on pavements so that it would restrict people's movement along the pavement, especially those with mobility issues. The pavement outside my old home was wide enough for a car to park entirely on it - although I never did that. No one with a walking sticks should've needed to scrape past my car when it was partially on the pavement.

For example, here's an image from Google maps near to where I used to live showing a white car with half the car parked on the pavement but with plenty of room on the right for a person to walk past on the pavement:

I've even seen pavements which are designated as parking spaces. Here's an example of that with cars parked fully on pavements but with space for people with walking sticks to go past (admittedly those cars should be parked a little closer to the road):

In my opinion, the rule should be that you cannot park a vehicle on a pavement so that it would prevent a person from passing on that pavement, including those with pushchairs, wheelchairs or walking sticks. There shouldn't be a blanket ban on parking on pavements.

Nothing to do with the thread content, just cracks me up seeing your name on a Disney Board. Love it.

Round here everyone bumps up the pavement slightly so that 2 rows of cars can park and one car or van can drive down the street (inc the bin men). That’s the same in my village and the village I used to live in before (still local)

Pushchairs etc can get past on the pavement still, but two cars cannot pass on our street.

A blanket ban is nuts.

And yes I do just bump up raised kerbs, always have
