So disappointed with dvc

So disappointed with dvc they just seem to have lost their sparkle….
I’ve read so many stories about people from the UK losing their points. The dues haven’t really changed even though the resorts were closed for a substantial period of time.
We had planned to make a booking via Disney destinations with our many points only to find that the short break we planned which is outside of school holidays and not near an American holiday isn’t available. It would seem the inventory includes all odd days with virtually no Saturdays… absolutely no use what so ever, the points charts don’t reflect this either which I think is quite deceiving.
We made the dvc purchase with the illusion of being about to stay at our home resort with some flex on other locations that we were also interested to travel to. Each time there has been some problem and we have been so flexible it’s untrue….
Rant over just giving other members a heads up and perhaps others will have a better experience than our own

OP. I have to say I am the first person who knocks Disney for being a money grabbing organisation.

However I disagree with every point you have made actually. They didn't have to do anything for their International Owners but they did. Check out other Timeshare Companies and see how they have dealt with their Owners. Not a patch on Disney.

We haven’t lost any points at all, in fact we did expect to because it’s not their fault that we haven’t been able to travel, but they’ve been great.

I think the issues with availability have come from the sheer volume of people now trying to use all of those saved points. We’ve had no problem at all booking 3 weeks at our home resort on release day, we do hope to do some switching around at 7 months but it’s not the end of the world if we can’t get those

Agree with this 100%. They have been brilliant to us and extended our points several times. Because of that we now get to spend 21 nights at Disney over Christmas and NY. We haven’t lost a single point so I can’t praise them enough.

We didn’t lose our points but I do agree about Disney destinations. I’ve looked a few times and never found any availability that we could use. However I’m stuck with school holidays which doesn’t help.
Can you rent out your points and use the cash for a holiday this year. Abs then hopefully things will be closer to normal next year.

Best thing to do is forget about using points for terrible value things like Disney destinations, cruises etc, and if you ever encounter this situation again get those points rented on Davids or on the Facebook, usually at very good rates with minimal hassle. Then the money is in your bank, it will pay your dues and give you money left over to spend as you wish.

It’s always good to have a rant and even better to get some differing views, thank you fellow fibbers! This is one of the reasons why I use this forum..

I can’t help being disappointed about Disney Destinations it’s just how I feel…

I’m inclined to agree Tom.

They gave us another 9 months to use our points, and we found lots of availability when booking at the 7 month window for an April/May trip. We managed to get everything we wanted, with split stays at Jambo, Boardwalk and Saratoga.

We also found Member Services very helpful on the 2 occasions we phoned them, although we had a 30 minute wait each time, which is understandable in the current climate.

Sorry you’ve been less satisfied OP.

I really don't think we should judge DVC on the last almost 2 years, IMO they've done everything they can to help us and we do seem to forget that it wasn't them stopping us going, so ultimately they didn't have to do anything for us.

I can't fault them at all, I've found them incredibly helpful throughout what must have been an absolute nightmare with so many unhappy international members.
