We were staying at Hotel NY (during a busier week than Gill) and concierge could not help us get into Manhattan. The best suggestion from them was to turn up at opening time, say we were hotel guests and they might let us in. We didn’t try that.

In the end, DH had to go home and I was left alone and was able to get a reservation for one at Downtown. Strange that they had reservation for one but not two, I can only assume they have a strict number of covers as there was definitely room for another person at my table.

I remember that I saw some availability for Manhattan on the app, it was definitely Downtown that was harder to get.

I would book Captain Jacks again. I really liked the theming and decor, service was good and food wasn’t bad.

How would I go about booking the rainforest cafe? It's not showing on the app and I know the kids will love it.

I think it only takes walk-ups but tbh I have never seen it busy (largely because, like the London one, it is hugely overpriced and the food is not great).
