So we rented out our Sept reservation in about July/August once we knew we weren’t going.
Then we were hoping to go in Jan so booked 1 night at BLT and 3 nights at SSR which we rented out about Thanksgiving. I’m careful to rent / cancel before the points go into holding, but we have a March use year so needed them gone.

So I decided to put them on Facebook after your advice but I don’t know what I’ve done wrong as the admin have declined my advert and it’s says there is feedback but the feedback says ‘no posting of other groups or websites’ - I have no clue what they are talking about and I don’t seem to be able to reply to them to question it? Very weird!

Ah yes, the admins are proper grumpy.
My other half posted all of our reservations - maybe look and see if you can find one of ours and see if you can do a similar post? I’ll PM you his name so you can check.

Thanks for all the advice.
If I booked then rented a reservation what information would I need from the purchaser? Also, is it easy to change names and addresses on the booking? I'm such a worrier that I'll probably have loads more questions before I finally take the plunge...

So, you need name of all guests, address, email and phone numbers. Also, ages of any children.
You can change the lead guest on chat on the DVC site (faster than calling) and the rest you can do yourself on your account. We take payment on PayPal which is easy and provide booking details to the renter once they have paid. You can set your own T&Cs but do read the rules on the FB group (if you rent on there) as the admins are scary and grumpy.

I agree re the FB group! Whatever you do don't remove the listing! They go mad! Just say sold and leave it well alone 😅.
I use chat to change names etc. Plus PayPal for payment. Only done it a couple of times on there, but both went quickly!

I’ve rented a couple of bookings but each time PayPal have converted the dollars into sterling, at a rubbish rate. How can I prevent this if I manage to rent out other bookings?

/7e726505cd43bc.jpg[/APP]You need to tell the renter to follow these instructions (as paypal detects they are paying a UK paypal account so auto converts - makes it difficult to see if the correct amount has been paid):
1) Pay using friends and family so no charges, if they choose the other option, then they should pay the 3% fee 2) When the payment screen shows ask them to change GBP to USD on the right of the screen as shown in the screenshot. If they follow this then it should work |
