Or continue to rent, saving yourself the money but take out insurance that will cover you?

It would be a shame for this to put you off.

Exactly this. The system is flooded with points, it’s so hard to get anything booked right now.

Points will be lost for sure on our contract as I can’t seem to book anything to rent out.

My insurance refused cover, clearly some may have changed now but for me no renting point until its clear that I am completely covered for a redundancy tbat does not include through insurance.

Have you looked at SSR?

I have just checked the Month of April albeit other Months also have availability. Plus bear in mind Easter falls then

April - Entire Month 1 Bed Villa Preferred location available
April - Entire Month 1 Bed Villa Standard available
April - Apart from 4 days Studio Standard available
April - Apart from 2 days Studio Preferred location available

The Month of May for both 1 Bed types is fully open. I haven't checked Studios for that Month though.

I used our Points up by booking a 1 Bed Preferred in that period.

We originally splurged our remaining 2020 points on a cabin stay at CCV…. In October. Obviously that got cancelled & left us with very little options.

I’ve rented some odd nights & we then decided to lengthen our trip by a week next month, including a 4 night concierge cruise, terrible use of points (which I’m now expecting to lose anyway) but they expire on 31st Jan so my options were really limited.

There are so many cancellations at the moment, I'm checking several times a day trying to change our 2 SSR nights to somewhere else, stuff is popping up all the time.

And waitlist too, I managed to get two nights in a standard studio at AKL for my friend over race weekend, just popped up and booked! It is definitely a moveable feast at the moment.
