why are people booking now ?

Genuine question. are people booking now keeping the prices high. you only have to do a search for prices next month and they are half what they are in 3 months. the car company's are taking the pee

I got very lucky.

I am heading to Los Angeles in June and need a car as I am driving out to Palm Springs and Arizona. I have to pick up the car from John Wayne airport and drop it back off at LAX but its only cost me £340 for a 17 day rental with Hertz Manager Special through their app. Sometimes you have to play around with different pick up spots.

Do pick up the same car at LAX it was £1250 for 17 days and the Uber to John Wayne will only cost $50-60 a pretty good saving.

I book when I see a decent price and then rebook if I find it cheaper. I don’t book the crazy prices. I’ve booked/taken 4 trips since the borders open in November and monitor the prices all the time. The guys on here come up with the deals all of the time.

The deals come up at random times. Unless you’ve been monitoring for a while your example/argument is pretty much useless in the current climate.

A friend got an SUV for 17 days in May for £750, he booked that a couple of months ago.

I'm hoping that the prices being lower a month away is a sign that the companies are unsure of the current market and are trying to recoup lost money by charging high prices in advance, but when there are cars left they're offering lower (closer to normal) prices 'last minute' as some money is better than none. Meaning that hopefully prices could drop nearer a required date, but that's not a guarantee and I went with a booking based on a limit I set myself given the current climate and booked when a price was below that limit but I can still cancel/amend that booking nearer the time.

Going through DFCH, the prices I am paying for one of my trips this yea is maybe 15% more expensive than 2019. The other is less expensive.

So there are decent prices out there.
