Charleston / Savannah

We were due to visit family in MI back at the start of the great unpleasantness and had a 3 centre trip planned and booked Chicago - Detroit - NYC
Things (and family) have moved on, relocating to NC (Raleigh) so we're looking at combining a visit there with 1 or 2 other cities.
Anyone have any comments or suggestions for that area? Potentially looking at an Amtrak trip rather than car hire.

Charleston is nice, not huge amounts to see worth a visit.
Savannah has more going on.
I�d stay in Hilton Head if in the area personally as well.

Savannah would be my pick a very walkable City and Tyree island if you fancy the beach

Love Charleston, we used to live there. Quite a few places to visit in the area. Lovely beaches and lots of places to eat. Quite a lot of history there - it was the location of the first shot of the civil war. My fave thing to do there is go out on a boat. You can either hire or go out on organised trips.

We're now doing a 3 centre
NYC, Charlotte ( for a MLS match😅 ) & Raleigh.
Disappointed we couldn't use avios to upgrade with our evoucher (from cancelled club World flights 🙄 ) though
