In a meeting room it's really not the right approach and unprofessional but things can be joked about in a work environment between colleagues... Like I mentioned early on some people would burst into flames if they walked in on half the conversations going off in warehouse attached to my work, most of time I personally am down my aisle laughing my socks off.

My boss is pretty outspoken, never offensive in the office. When I had to tell him about a gynae op I needed time off for, he blushed so red! I had a stifle a giggle!
Certain subjects should be treated with respect for both makes and females! IMO

To put things into perspective, I work for a small independent company and the boss in question is THE boss, which is pretty much why none of us called him on it, the consequences just weren’t worth it!
If we were all having a laugh at the time, or a light hearted conversation I would have said it was possibly just a bad, misjudged, joke but he was seriously ranting about an individual and it was meant in a derogatory way, hence our disbelief. Luckily we have a great team and when he had left the room after the initial ‘what the hell’ we turned it into a laugh and bounced off each other for the rest of the afternoon. I wish I could say it was an isolated comment but alas no. (Yes I know I could leave but with a child in primary school convenience is more important at the moment) Hey ho, in retrospect a small annoyance compared to what some people have to go through.

yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. YES. Anyone being offended by a comment like you mention really needs to have some life lessons.
