I just couldn’t take to the style of resort, I like to be inside a hotel and not open my door to the outside corridor.
Not really comparing like with like here - AKL and Wilderness Lodge (apart from the cabins) are classed as deluxe. The only classic hotel style format that there is onsite at a moderate is the new tower at CSR.

As I said, I just didn’t like the resort. Just my opinion - I know many people love it, it just wasn’t my cup of tea :/

I know what you are saying - it is my one reservation about it.
When we were last in Orlando we had two weeks of pretty awful weather with lots of rain lasting hours, not the usual short downpours that cleared up really quickly. I don't relish the thoughts of having to run through the rain just to get from the hotel room to the restaurant etc.

Would much prefer a proper hotel set up for a number of reasons but unfortunately my budget doesn't stretch to deluxe.

Having said that with all the reading and vlogs I have read/watched, POFQ is top of our list at the moment.

I'm like that about POR. I stayed there when it was called Dixie Landings and didn't like it. When I stayed at POFQ last year I took a boat up to POR to have a look around and see what I thought of it 21 years on - I still didn't like it. I know a lot of people love it though.

With the size of POFQ you wouldn't be running for very long - a minute or two. I was in Building 1 which is one of the furthest from the food court, bus stops etc. I walk very slowly and the walk took me 4-5 minutes.

I’m not so keen on motel style in the real world but in Wdw you are opening onto gardens rather than a carpark (generally. There are some carpark views). It has a very different atmosphere to a typical motel where your car is at your door.

I love POFQ, it is mine and my partner's favourite resort (we have never managed to stay deluxe though!). It is beautiful and small and close enough to Riverside you can go and visit if you wanted to.

I am a little worried FQ is going to be harder to book now, if they are not offering free dining on standard rooms at Riverside...

POFQ is our favourite resort, it’s smaller so a lot quieter and you’re not miles away from the food court. The pool is great too. The theming at POFQ is good too which lovely grounds.

We didn't love POR in 2017. I know many do but we just didn't. Looking forward to trying French Quarter next month though

We stayed in a standard room last August, this was our room. We were on the ground floor. It’s a lovely little resort and lost of trees and bright colours. We loved it and going back this year!
