Disney- the little things

We’ve been so lucky to have a few pixie dust moments while we’ve been here,

At OKW 3 times CM’s stopped while we were walking and gave us lifts in their little golf carts

Our server at Yak and Yeti gave us a fast pass which we used on Everest

Today we moved resorts and our room wasn’t ready when we arrived so we sat by the pool, the CM life guard came round asking if we needed anything, we were telling her we were waiting for our room to be ready, she came back 5 minutes later with 2 Mickey ice creams for us to cheer us up

It’s these little things (that cost very little) that keep pulling us back, the customer service is phenomenal here

Thanks Tink, just remembered also that one of the bus drivers told us about the DS AMC doing $5 showings on Tuesday morning, so we’re going to see End Game next Tuesday x

In our trips over the years 2 things come to mind.

Jessie from Toy story coming over to our daughter during the parade at HS and waving her toy Jessie in Darth Vader’s face.

At the end of Star Tours, a load of CM’s appearing and giving us all super fast passes valid once for each ride on the park.

Around 3 years ago we commented that Universal’s customer service had overtaken Disney’s - not that there was anything wrong at WDW, Universal just seemed to be going the extra mile across the board.

That’s not what we’ve found this year & last, Disney really seem to have upped their customer service game, we had lots of lovely interactions with CMs during our stay that were above & beyond.

Remember you can tweet #castcompliment to @wdwtoday & they do respond & acknowledge the CM.

Lovely post

When we went we found all service fantastic and CMs really interactive and chatty. We still talk about the great service now.

My girls were chosen to be chefs for the day at The confectioners on Main Street. They were given hats and aprons and decorated Mickey rice crispies and took them away with a certificate, it was lovely. They got a lot of tinkerbell pins that year too.

When it was their birthday they were given a voucher for a free treat item from somewhere round in Frontierland. The CM’s all cane together to sing happy birthday backwards to them - they all turned around with their backs to the girls and it was so funny.

Even little things like the bag check people bowing to them and calling them princess has really made their day.

We once checked into a universal hotel on their 7th birthday and the check in lady asked for their date of birth or age and I mentioned it was their birthday that day and she didn’t even say happy birthday to them.

We once went to the Tomorrowland fireworks party and as tinkerbell flew down from the end of wishes she was waving at one of the girls and it was so nice.

Yes - it's really the little things that make such a huge difference at Disney!

Still remember my first adult trip - we were in Epcot and wanted to get a funnel cake with ice cream (having never tried funnel cake before). The CM at the booth said he didn't have ice cream, and then just gave us a funnel cake for free which was completely unexpected!

And then the fact that there was a CM at California Grill that remembered me from another meal a few months before and came over to say hi - I was seriously impressed by that.

The occasional really random paper FPs that CMs give out - always appreciated!

Attended one MNSSHP that went badly because of weather (and some poor communication regarding fireworks/parade). Disney without question or argument was offering refunds or tickets to another MNSSHP to guests. And then when my friends couldn't attend the make up MNSSHP (due to Hurricane Irma), Disney had no problem letting them push back the complimentary ticket dates to later in the month.

The fact that even when weather delays fireworks and parades, Disney still does its best not to cancel them... even if it means keeping parks open (well rides shut but people in parks) until weather conditions are favourable. This includes one MNSSHP when the parade only started running at midnight (party was meant to be over at midnight), Epcot Illuminations running at 10pm (park close at 9pm).

Disney going above and beyond their hurricane policy... Was staying in Pop right before Hurricane Irma and trying to figure out if I wanted to leave early or stay through the hurricane. What they did then was simply that if you had to leave early, just let them know and they would refund all unused nights. If you had to extend your stay, just let them know and they were giving discounted hotel room rates for people who had to do this. It was simply amazing and took out so much stress from the decision of staying or leaving.

Disney customer service is really second to none, and is one of the things that keeps drawing me back to WDW...
