Successful Beach days in August?

We had an amazing beach day in Clearwater last year in May. Amazing weather and a real highlight of our holiday.

Possibly looking again at another beach day next year but this would be mid August where the weather is a bit more hit and miss. Just looking for any experiences, good and bad for mid August

We had beach holidays on the coast close to Clearwater in August for many years. Our kids would meet the same kids year after year, they grew up together, now are adults with children. In 20 years of holidaying whenever had a bad weather holiday. Magical holidays.

We have been back nearly every year for 35 years at different times it's always a great day at the beach.

We did Clearwater in August 18. Had a lovely drive there, and spent a few hours on the beach, we did enjoy it but it was quite overcast and all day j was sat there thinking, is it going to turn now? The sea wasn’t very clear either, think the red tide might have had an impact. We packed out stuff up and the heavens opened, so we didn’t get to do anything else as it was torrential, and was like that for the whole drive back to Davenport, and a bit scary at times! Complete contrast to our day at Cocoa in October, where it was 103’ and bright blue skies all day. Wouldn’t put us off another beach day in August, you can’t control the weather, just make the best of it, we will be having another beach day this August, and spending 2 nights at Lauderdale by the sea before flying home.

We’ve had some amazing beach days in August but we’ve also seen rain and Red Tide.
I would book a hotel on free cancellation then decide nearer the time when you can see the weather reports. The chances are it will be a beautiful sunny day.
In fact the day we were driving to Clearwater it was torrential biblical rain but by the time we got there it had all but cleared up. In AMI it rained on and off for the whole day once but it’s still so warm we were all in and out of the sea and had a great day regardless

Edit to say, just reread your post so forget about the hotel stay bit if you’re travelling there and back in the day.

Thanks for the views. We will be flying home from Tampa so I’m thinking of adding an extra day so we can do an overnight and beach day. I just don’t want our final day to be a washout but nothing we can do it’s just pure luck!

We had a fabulous couple of days at St Petes last August. It was the week before Dorian was due to hit though!

Most of our holidays have been in August and we go to the beaches around Anne Marie a lot . As others have said you can get cloudy, rainy days but personally the water is gorgeous and the beaches stunning

We were there for the day on the same week. It rained cats and dogs on the way there but was lovely for a few hours on the beach at St Petes.
