BLDY&McGoo What Are We Thankful For 2016 - Day 12 - Disney Springs, Old Town, Millers
BLDY&McGoo What Are We Thankful For 2016 – Day 12 – Disney Springs, Old Town, Shopping & Millers
Having gone to sleep much earlier than normal yesterday I stirred quite early this morning but without Scott next to me to disturb I stayed in bed half asleep before finally waking properly at about 8:30am. I laid in bed on my phone for a while seeing plenty of elf on the shelf photos and people celebrating the fact it was December 1st, Kim popped her head in to check I was okay too. I woke Scott up at 9:30am and gave him a big hug for being so nice to me, he described his sleep as average, it had been the first time in years he had slept in a single bed and had found it worrying every time he rolled over in case he fell out. I was feeling better than yesterday but still not my normal self but had a shower to freshen up which made me feel a bit more human. Scott & I the. Began discussing the mountain that had taken over the buy bed, it was pretty full so we thought it would be best to pack some bits up to see how much room we had left. We had bought vacuum bags that we had used in 2013 so used these to our advantage and grabbed the Hoover from downstairs to suck the air out of the stitch pillow pet & my mahoosive winter coat. We worked out that we still had around a bag spare which made me feel pleased that I had some more shopping room, I know we had done an awful lot of shopping nearly every day but we rarely buy anything back home so it felt special to treat ourselves whilst we were here. Today's plan of action was to return to Disney springs, Dad & Kim weren't fussed so we dropped them off to the Vineland outlets to continue their Christmas shopping so we could grab the last Disney bits I wanted. After the kafuffle we had parking the other day Scott decided we would spoil ourselves and use valet parking. We weren't intending to be here very long at all but it meant we were close to the shops we wanted to go to which was convenient. I think it was $20 We went into Arribas Brothers first as I knew I wanted to get a couple of things engraved. It didn't take long for me to decide, I chose a small tumbler for us that had the castle with snowflakes around it & a tumbler with Mickey Mouse as a present for my future nephew Jack. I filled in the engraving forms and paid $38.35 which I think is extremely reasonable for what I think is the loveliest souvenir. We then looked through the other shops still struggling to get our bearings on the new layout to what will always be truly known to us as Downtown Disney. We looked for a while in The Art Of Disney store which is a firm favourite and chose a lovely Jim shore figure for Scott's Mums Christmas present. She collects Mickey/Minnie figures so we buy her one every year but it's becoming increasingly difficult to remember the ones she has. We settled on ‘sharing memories’ which we both agreed was perfect at $69.23 We had a long wait at the till, a couple of older ladies were buying some artwork and the cast member was taking a long time wrapping up their goods whilst having a good chin wag, he was very enthusiastic. We were both really hungry but decided we would grab something when we went to collect Dad & Kim as we had more or less finished what we came to do here. I popped into Basin & bought a couple of bits. The bath bombs smelt nice but aren't a patch on Lush bombs so I doubt I'd buy from there again but I only spent $13.18 so it was no big deal. We returned to the valet and watched the guy run off to grab our car, we think he hurt himself running as when he got out he was limping. Oops! Then piled in with our shopping back over to the outlets to find the other half of our holiday team. Scott spoke to them on the phone and they hadn't finished yet so we decided we would go for a quick Subway at the food court to fill our rumbling stomachs. You would think Subway would be pretty universal in different countries but we were quite miffed to find they didn't have sweet corn or BBQ sauce for Scott nor did they have ketchup for me. Scott had a foot long & I had a 6inch with a drink between us it came to $15.66. The server was also really rude and I was made to wait for ages so I wasn't very impressed, I also went to the chicken stand next door to grab some sauces. Despite all that mine was quite nice and considering I didn't feel brilliant it was just what I needed. We didn't need anything else shopping wise but that still didn't stop Scott visiting Under Armour to buy another hoody for $22.35. We bumped into Dad & Kim coming out of one of the shops and they declared they were hungry now too and could leave the rest of their shopping. It didn't take long before we were pulling up at the Outback that was down the road, we were seated immediately and it was quite other than a massive sports team who took up a huge section of the restaurant. We sat in the booth and browsed the menu, I was sort of peckish but didn't really want to over do it so as we had already eaten Scott suggested we just share the chicken tenders platter which was a good idea. It didn't take long to arrive but I had about 4 fries and 2 pints of water, such a cheap date! Scott enjoyed the chicken but left the fries, Dad had a burger with blooming onion pieces on top and Kim had a chicken and avocado burger according to the receipt but I have no idea if they were good or not. It had been a cheap lunch anyway but Dad offered to pay for ours as we hadn't had much which was nice. I didn't feel as sick as before but just a bit uneasy so the sit down and the water had done me some good and I was starting to feel more my normal self again. To continue our easy day we headed to the area of Old Town for a wander around, we have visited every trip and it's a nice place to go but can get quite rowdy at night time with all the locals so we figured a daytime visit would be a nice way of filling some time. After a bit of driving banter between Scott and Dad we arrived at Old Town around 3:15pm.we wandered in and out of the shops, some selling Walmart items for twice the price, looking at all the weird and wonderful items they sold. Scott took a liking to these funky benches which I don't remember noticing before and we purchased a bottle of drink from one of the shops for $2.50 One of the shops is full of all sorts of dream catchers, stones etc which always makes me wish I could bring my mum here, she would quite happily fill suitcases full of all these weird and wonderful goodies that look like they belong to a hippy. I chose a little stone mobile for her as a thank you for house sitting for us (the peace of mind this gives us is priceless) and Scott also chose a wooden mask for his friend/barber who collects skull type things. Together they came to $27.71 We left around 4pm and headed to the Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores which had previously been a successful place to visit for Dad & Kim. The Under Armour store got yet more of our money as Scott bought a couple more pairs of his under shorts and got a longer pair too for his Strongman training in the cold winter weather. We spent $64.08 I also chose a purse for our niece’s gift from Guess which was $17.01 We than continued what I call trainer gate. Dad had decided he would get Scott’s oldest sister Donna new trainers for Christmas but had no idea where to start. Her favourite colour is red so we said either red or black and then went in and out of every sport shop trying to find some she liked. We went into Reebok and found some nice ones so started sending her photos, she approved of a couple but was particularly keen on a pair of black classics, we then convinced Dad that they were the right ones as obviously they can't be brought back. There was an offer on for buy one get one half price so Scott ended up choosing a pair too and we paid Dad $30. I'm sure Scott ended up with far more of a bargain than Dad did but at least trainer gate was over. Written down it seems quite simple but in real life this was a highly stressful situation and numerous black shoes that practically looked the same had never been such an issue before. I'm normally a walk in yes/no type of girl. Finished up here we then headed to a large Nike shop, I can't even remember where it was but we did a bit of a detour to find it but eventually got there. They had the Trainers Dad had seen on the first day in his size. It was one of those times where you see something and wish you bought it there and then, every Nike store we passed since had every size but the ones he needed. He tried them on and it was a true Cinderella moment, the slipper fits! Dad then revealed to us that he had bought about 6 pairs of shoes this trip and he wasn't quite sure how to get them all home. At 6:45pm we pulled up at Millers Ale House, I was feeling almost perfect now but incredibly hungry so was pleased to be here. Scott had combo Fajitas with Chicken & Steak, I had a full rack of ribs, Kim had a zinger flatbread with side salad & Dad had the Shrimp & Chicken Cobb salad. It didn't take long for the food to arrive and we al tucked in, Scott’s steak looked amazing & Dad was shocked that his salad was so big, for just $10 there was an awful lot. We left at 7:45pm paying our bill of $64.53 ($35 Each) heading back to Walmart at Cagans Crossing. Dad & Kim had bought some dog toys a couple of nights ago when we visited but somehow they had never been put through. There had been a confusion between their shopping and the woman in front so they think she unknowingly bought an extra large gingerbread man and although they were glad they hadn't been charged it was frustrating that they had to go back to buy them This would be our last Walmart visit and armed with the fact we had a whole case free I had managed to convince Scott to let me buy a big cover for our bed. It was $50 but I'd wanted one for ages and although you can buy ones here they are normally quite old fashioned or very expensive. We also bought a number of other goodies to fill up the space, plenty of sweets, an otter box phone case for Scott’s phone. $139.94 lighter we left accompanied by Dad & Kim who hadn't gone as crazy but still had a couple of bags full. We returned home and had another chilled evening ‘at home’. Scott made himself an Oreo milkshake and we watched Tv whilst I wrote my notes and chatted. Dad had a Jack Daniels as he didn't have long to finish it & we all just spent some time enjoying our family time before heading to bed around 11pm Spends Food – $53.16 Shopping – $391.75 Other – $20.00 Total - $464.91 Edited at 01:30 PM. |

What a great shopping day and i am loving the vacuum bags - I may try that next time. You got some great stuff - and nice to get round a few different outlets.
food looks fab again and so pleased you were able to enjoy it today. We like Old town too in the day - its like an old fashioned fairground.
