Palm Spring aerial tram

Hi,

Has anyone done the aerial tram at sunset/come back down early evening? We will be there in August and thought the temperature might be a little better late in the day and possibly some nice sunset photos!

Yes we did that. Wonderful evening. We saw raccoons (one tried to steal my bag!) and the biggest owl flying I've ever seen. And, yes, the temperature was much better - this was August too. Palm Springs was sooo hot and actually felt hotter than when we were in Death Valley!

Fantastic! Were you back down the mountain before complete nightfall?

Following, interested to know people's views we are there for 1 night ( just for that) arriving from LV so it'll be a long day. We may have to "suffer" the heat the following morning.

We are heading the other direction and will be in Palm Springs for also 1 night on 10 August en route to the Grand Canyon. We keep changing the itinerary but I'm pretty sure we're fixed now! Just need to book the Las Vegas hotel. Where are you staying?

Be aware, though, that the aerial tramway usually closes for maintenance for two or three weeks in July or August every year. As it is the low season because the temperatures are so high, visitor numbers drop (only Europeans are crazy enough to go to the desert when it's so hot!) so the tramway gets its MoT then. I don't think it is the same dates every year, so it may be worth checking with the tramway to see if they have decided their 2017 dates.

Back to the ground yes but we hung around looking at the raccoons. I remember driving back down the road and it was pretty dark, that was when we saw the owl.

Thanks for the heads up that's really useful I will send a quick email to them.
