Universal ADR

We've never stopped on site before at Universal and are wanting to make an ADR for the minion breakfast - does this work in the same way as Disney or do we have book closer to arrival?

I booked and paid for it on the Universal website but afterwards you need to ring with your reference number to confirm reservation... we did a lot of character dining and this was our favourite. The food was only ok but the characters where fantastic and spent a long time at each table.

About 10-12 weeks before...we went in May and I booked it middle of March.
