Opinions on itinerary please?
I have done what feels like a LOT of research but would really appreciate some opinions from all you experienced people! I've been to Disney a few times before but the last time was 20 years ago, as a teen, so no help whatsoever with the planning.
We are going in May/June next year - me, husband, 10 year old son and 7 year old daughter. Staying 11 nights at Beach Club and 3 at Universal Loews Sapphire Falls. Have deliberately not done the water parks as think son in particular will love Animal Kingdom so opted for a second day there instead. Doing one day at the Beach Club pool so kids will be happy with this. ADRs are all done, Busy Day Guide checked as much as possible and this is what I've come up with: Day 1: Arrival - no real plans but, if kids aren't too tired by the time we've checked in etc, thinking we could walk around the Boardwalk and get something to eat somewhere. Day 2: Breakfast ADR at Cape May Café 7.30am as assume we will be up early All day at Epcot Dinner ADR at Teppan Edo 5pm, probably followed by early night Day 3: All day at Animal Kingdom - early EMH as probably up early again? No ADRs Day 4: All day at Discovery Cove - early start Dinner ADR at Cape May Café 7.30pm Epcot EMH in the evening if we feel like it Day 5: All day at Hollywood Studios Lunch ADR at Mama Melrose Fantasmic Package 12pm Fantasmic in the evening Day 6: All day at Magic Kingdom Breakfast ADR at Crystal Palace 9.55am - hoping this will mean we can fit in 1 or 2 rides beforehand? Planning to leave park about 7.30pm so not doing Wishes Dinner ADR at Beaches and Cream 8.40pm Day 7: Hotel pool day Evening - kids in Sandcastle Club, dinner ADR for us at Yachtsman Steakhouse 6.50pm Day 8: All day at Magic Kingdom Breakfast ADR at Cinderella's Royal Table 9am Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique booked for daughter at 11am Dinner ADR at Be Our Guest 5.55pm Day 9: Brunch ADR at California Grill 10am Afternoon at Epcot Dinner ADR at Coral Reef 6pm Back to California Grill to watch Wishes - assume we will be able to get back in time from Coral Reef? Day 10: Day at Disney Springs/shopping Evening at Hollywood Studios Dinner ADR at 50s Prime Time Café 5.45pm Star Wars Galactic Spectacular Day 11: Day at Animal Kingdom Evening at Epcot - EMH Dinner ADR at Via Napoli 7pm Illuminations - assuming we will be done with dinner in time to get a good viewing spot? Day 12: Check-out Morning - quick re-visit if there's anything the kids are desperate to do again? Afternoon: check-in at Universal, swimming at hotel Evening: dinner somewhere at City Walk Day 13: All day at Universal Lunch at the Three Broomsticks Dinner somewhere at City Walk Day 14: All day at Universal Lunch at Mythos Dinner somewhere at City Walk Day 15: Check-out Disney Springs to check bags in/lunch/last-minute shopping before airport Any thoughts would be fantastic - particularly if I need to re-think any timings! |

Looks good to me. Only minor things I think I would do differently would be
- if you have ultimate tickets , I would do a water park rather than a pool day I would look to do wishes after DC Allowing you to stay in Epcot for illuminations on day 9 without changing no parks - which would then allow a rest on day 11 evening , allowing you to able to sp nd time in the US/IOA park on day 12 As I think 2 days only may not be enough to do us and IOA especially as you have dinner plans in the evening Can't help with adds , we don't bother , rather spend time on rides, so quick food fine for us

You've got some great ADRs. I love Teppan Edo, Crystal palace is great for characters, everyone has to eat in the castle at least once in their life, and be our guest was fab too. My DS was 9 and DD 7 on our first trip to wdw and they really loved the water parks so maybe you could squeeze in a day there...but saying that I wouldn't be able to get by with just 2 trips to MK! I love it sooooo much. We've had 2 trips just doing disney as I really love MK.
Whatever you decide I'm sure you will have an awesome time.

Thank you both for your comments - much appreciated!
I will have a think about water park instead of hotel pool - might leave this one to decide on the day, depending on what the kids feel they would prefer. I want to keep Wishes as day 9 to make the most of the fact that we can watch from California Grill, having eaten there that day. I know what you mean about park hopping though. I can't really remember much about whether this is easy to do or a pain. In my head, I'd assumed it would be fairly easy to get the monorail from the Contemporary to Epcot and then back again? Is this likely to be annoying/take ages? If so, I might cancel the Coral Reef ADR and do MK that afternoon instead... MK definitely seems like we could spend more than 2 days there! So hard to decide! Good point about how much time we would need to do Universal - definitely something to think about. I think I'm guilty of having spent so much time researching Disney (because of all the planning it requires!) and completely neglecting Universal as a result! Probably could do with a third day at the parks, thank you. |

Oh and Abby, glad to hear the ADRs sound OK! I remember loving Teppan Edo (or whatever it was called then) and 50s Prime Time when we went in 1996. I figured any meal/experience I can remember 20 years later must be worth doing again! Am hoping the rest turn out to be good too!

Looks like a great plan, and with the tweaks above it will be even better For your Universal days, I'd only do one table service meal per day to save time (and $$$s) - Maybe Krusty Burger in US (gets good reviews, Vs pretty poor ones for Zleaky Cauldron). I'm 50/50 on Mythos - we had an amazing meal there in 2008, and a really poor one in 2012 and have never been tempted to return. There is definitely better choice at City Walk, and lots of great Quick Service options too (like Panda Express and Bread Box). Alternatively, you could pop to islands at Royal Pacific for a late breakfast after your early entry at IOA. It's a lovely breakfast Just a few thoughts - hope they help

Thanks for comments about Universal - I definitely need to plan that part of the holiday a bit better!
I think you're absolutely right about one table service meal a day so will go with that. Interesting to hear your opinion of Mythos too - have read really mixed reviews so probably a good idea not to risk it being a disappointment! City Walk looks great so think we'll stick to table service in the evenings and just grab food on the go in the parks. Thanks so much! |

I'd second comments about eating in the Universal parks. City Walk has far more choice and will be better value. We loved Breadbox and chose to leave the park for our food then head back later.
Another minor observation, on your DC day you might not need an evening ADR. I've not been myself but apparently all food and drink is included. Disney definitely needs more planning but it is worth giving a bit of thought to how you intend to spend your time at Universal too. |

Thanks for your comments! Think we will definitely just grab quick food in the Universal parks then, make the most of the time we have and save main meal for evening at City Walk.
I need to plan Universal a bit more, now that Disney seems sorted! |
